HSLC results show progress among marginalized students, says Ranoj Pegu
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has described the performance of students from tea garden and Scheduled Caste communities in the 2026 HSLC examination as encouraging, with a pass percentage of 59.82%.
Addressing the media, the Minister highlighted a series of key measures and upcoming reforms aimed at improving the examination system and student outcomes.
The Board has announced that copies of answer scripts for re-evaluation will be available online from April 13, allowing students to review their performance transparently.
Students who have failed in up to three subjects will be eligible to appear for compartmental examinations in May, providing them with an opportunity to clear their papers without losing an academic year.
Meanwhile, schools across the state are expected to receive official mark sheets between April 23 and 24.
In line with the National Education Policy, the Board is also considering the introduction of a grade-based evaluation system from the next academic year. Additionally, provisions are being planned to allow students to reappear for examinations to improve their scores.
The Education Minister further stated that particular attention will be given to subjects such as Social Science, where student performance will be closely reviewed. Necessary steps will be taken to identify and address learning gaps in the subject.
