Guwahati, April 3 A six-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father inside a train at the Silanibari station in Lakhimpur district of Assam on Friday, an official of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said.
Security personnel have arrested the accused, he said.
The official said the incident took place inside a general coach of the 15813 Dekargaon-Murkongselek Express around 9.15 am.
"Railway Police Force and Government Railway Police personnel immediately reached the spot. The accused has been arrested," he said.
"After recording statements of eyewitnesses and taking custody of the body by police authorities, the train departed from Silonibari at 10.58 am," the official added.
The motive behind the murder was not immediately known.
