Security has been intensified in riverine and border areas in preparation for the Assembly elections.

Security measures have been strengthened in the Goalpara district to ensure peaceful voting.

Out of the 1,010 polling stations, 72 are located along the Assam-Meghalaya border, including: 3 in Jaleswar; 33 in Goalpara West and 36 in Dudhnoi.

Additionally, 48 polling stations are situated in remote riverine (char) areas along the Brahmaputra.

The police have increased patrols on both land and river routes, with special monitoring in border and char areas under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Nabaneet Mahanta.
