
March 15, New Delhi: The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal during a press conference on Sunday.
Polling will begin on April 9 in a single phase for Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry. Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23.
Meanwhile, West Bengal will witness polling in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The counting of votes for all five states and the Union Territory will take place on May 4.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar emphasized the strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.
