
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted coordinated search operations in the districts of Ahilyanagar and Yavatmal early on Sunday morning, acting on specific intelligence regarding suspected extremist activity and potential radicalization networks, officials said.
During the operation, the agency seized cash, sharp-edged weapons, and electronic devices, while several individuals were questioned. According to officials, ATS teams conducted searches at 12 locations in the Ahilyanagar district. During the operation, approximately 74 lakh rupees in cash and sharp-edged weapons were seized.
A case was registered at the Bhingar Camp Police Station against two suspects for possession of sharp weapons. Several documents, mobile phones, electronic devices, and CCTV equipment were also seized for forensic and technical examination.
In the Yavatmal district, around 14 suspects from the Pusad and Umarkhed areas were brought in for sustained questioning. Officials added that the material is being analyzed for possible extremist propaganda or radical content, anti-establishment messaging, unlawful activities, financial trails, and links with individuals already under surveillance for suspicious online messaging or organizational contact.
