Perth, March 8 Australia converted their overwhelming dominance over the last three days into a decisive 10-wicket victory over India in the one-off women's day-night Test here on Sunday.
Australia had already laid the groundwork for their victory, dismissing India for 149 in their second innings, and then easily reached a nominal target of 25.
It was also a fitting farewell for captain Alyssa Healy, who ended her career in the Baggy Green with a magnificent win over a rival whom she had always excelled against.
Once India started the third day at 105 for six, it was clear that victory was within Australia's grasp. Overnight, Indian batters Pratika Rawal (63) and Sneh Rana (30) had put India on 132.
Rawal showed excellent temperament during her fifty, but the task proved too challenging for her to manage.
Once Rana was dismissed by Ash Gardner with a quick delivery that hit the batter's off stump, India quickly crumbled.
A combination of Gardner and Player of the Match Annabel Sutherland fittingly ended India's innings. Sutherland took a fine catch at the edge of the circle when Rawal's mistimed pull off the off-spinner failed to gain power or distance.
This also marked the end of India's second innings.
Australian openers Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield were never going to struggle with a target of 25, and the pair easily completed the job in just 4.3 overs.
"We started well in the T20Is with a series win, but we couldn't continue that good work in ODIs and Tests. Playing a full series in Australia was a good experience. The Pink Ball Test was a different challenge," said India captain Harmanpreet Kaur after the match.
Her Australian counterpart Healy said: "Bouncing back from the T20 series defeat was unbelievable, and I am proud of the team.
"I am going to sing that team song one last time, but I am happy to see this team going forward and achieving good results. The last week or so has been amazing," said Healy.
