Axar Patel: Leadership Insights Unlock a New Side.webp

In his career, Axar Patel has consistently performed according to expectations – bowling effectively when needed and contributing with the bat when the situation demanded. From his junior cricket days to his role in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his current position in the Indian team, Axar embodies a cricketer who works hard, trusts the process, and remains focused.

This approach has been successful, culminating in victories in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy, as well as his role as vice-captain in the T20Is (including the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup win) and his leadership position with Delhi Capitals (DC). However, it was during his time as a leader that Axar realized the importance of motivating and guiding his team towards success.

“As a player, you need to do what the team requires of you, and that's your role in cricket. But as a leader, you need to think about how you can get the best out of everyone, and how you can help the team achieve its goals," Axar explained.

He continued, "I think that's what makes a good leader. You need to be able to see the potential in your players, and you need to be able to motivate them to reach that potential. You also need to be able to make tough decisions, and you need to be able to make those decisions in the best interests of the team."

Axar's insights are particularly relevant in the context of T20 cricket, where leadership demands not only on-field performance but also strategic thinking and player management.

As Axar prepares to captain Delhi Capitals in the 2026 IPL, he will bring his experience and leadership skills to the team. He will also bring a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.

"I am very excited about this season," Axar said. "I believe that we have the talent and the leadership to win the IPL. I am confident that we will be able to achieve our goals, and I am looking forward to leading the team to victory."
