Babita Kapoor's Legacy: Songs and Bollywood's Changing Landscape.webp

Mumbai, April 4 Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor reminisced about her iconic mother, Babita's, songs, "Aao Huzoor Tumko" and "Kajra Mohabbat Wala," and shared interesting facts about them.

Speaking about the songs, Karisma highlighted two iconic tracks and revealed that "Aao Huzoor Tumko" required Babita to portray an intoxicated character on screen, which proved to be quite challenging at the time, given that portraying intoxication and women in that way was considered a negative message to society.

She added that, in contrast, "Kajra Mohabbat Wala" stood out for its uniqueness, as Babita performed in a male disguise, which was considered rare and unconventional in the 1960s.

Karisma also further pointed out the enduring popularity of "Aao Huzoor Tumko," noting that the song has been recreated and remixed multiple times over the years.

The loving daughter added that the track continues to resonate with audiences across generations even today.

Karisma further added that her mother, Babita, worked in the Hindi film industry for only about seven years, but almost all her films were successful.

The proud daughter highlighted that Babita worked with many legendary actors, including Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Manoj Kumar, Dharmendra, and members of the Kapoor family, including Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.

Babita, following the Kapoor family's traditions and rules, where women were not allowed to be professionally involved in the entertainment industry, left the Hindi film industry.

Karisma Kapoor appeared on the reality singing show "Indian Idol" for its special episode celebrating its Golden Jubilee.

Speaking about Babita, the actress is married to Bollywood actor Randhir Kapoor, and she quit Bollywood after marriage.

The couple are parents to two daughters, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

Both the girls have proven their acting skills and are today considered as top actresses of Bollywood.
