
Extensive tributes were paid to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his 119th birth anniversary today. Former President Ram Nath Kovind, former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment B. L. Verma, and Lok Sabha MP Manoj Kumar, along with Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Sudhansh Pant, paid floral tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram at his Samadhi in Delhi Gate. They also attended the Sarva Dharam Prarthana Sabha (multi-faith prayer meeting) organized in his memory.
Babu Jagjivan Ram was a freedom fighter and national leader who dedicated his life to uplifting the marginalized. He served as a Cabinet Minister for 35 years, holding several key portfolios for the longest period. He introduced groundbreaking reforms. As Minister of Food and Agriculture, Babu Jagjivan Ram is credited with the "Green Revolution," and as Minister of Defence, he led India to victory in the historic 1971 war, which resulted in the creation of Bangladesh.
