An 85-km section of the Bandipora–Gurez road was closed on Thursday after a severe snowstorm and strong winds hit Razdan Top, disrupting transportation.
February 19, Srinagar: A severe snowstorm accompanied by strong winds battered the Bandipora–Gurez road, particularly along the stretch at Razdan Top, prompting authorities to close the route.
The storm began on Thursday morning and continued for several hours, disrupting road connectivity along the 85-km road via Razdan Top.
Officials said that no vehicles were present on the affected section at the time of the incident, and no damage was reported.
Due to the prevailing weather conditions, the Border Roads Organisation initiated snow clearance operations to restore connectivity.
Authorities said that traffic will resume once the clearance work is completed and an assessment is conducted. Passengers have been advised to contact district control rooms before starting their journey.
