Baramati Farmers Face Crop Losses, Relief Efforts Underway.webp

Pune, April 5 Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar visited several rain-affected areas of Baramati on Sunday to assess the damage caused by unseasonal rains in the region.

Pawar interacted with farmers and reviewed the extent of losses they suffered due to the unseasonal showers in the Pune district, and assured them that their concerns would be conveyed to the authorities and that steps would be taken to provide relief.

Speaking to reporters, she said, "Due to the unseasonal rains over the past two days in parts of the state, farmers have suffered large-scale crop damage. The situation is extremely concerning and distressing."

Pawar assured that the state government stands firmly with the farmers, and instructions have been given to the authorities to assess the damages.

The government is making efforts to ensure that assistance reaches the affected farmers, she said.

Unseasonal rains accompanied by hailstorms and gusty winds have caused extensive damage to crops in several districts of Maharashtra over the past few days, and losses have been reported on more than 1.22 lakh hectares of land.
