
In the context of the timeline set by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to eliminate Naxalism, the Bastar region was declared free from Naxalism today.
The press conference, held in Dantewada, was attended by Inspector General of Police (IG) of Bastar Range, B. Sundarraj P, Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Rai, and Collector, Devendra Kumar Dhruv. During the event, five Naxalites surrendered.
IG B. Sundarraj P stated that the target of eliminating Naxalism in the Bastar region within the timeline set by the Centre and State governments, by March 31, 2026, has been achieved. He further claimed that Dantewada district is also now completely free from Naxalism.
