
Bengaluru, March 12 An MBBS student was killed and her classmate seriously injured after a speeding tipper truck collided with their two-wheeler here, police said on Thursday.
The deceased, Krithika (21), a final-year MBBS student of Rajarajeshwari Medical College, was on the pillion of the scooter, which her friend Hansa was riding, when the accident occurred. Hansa was admitted to the college hospital, and she is out of danger, they added.
According to police, the accident occurred around 4:15 pm on Wednesday when Krithika and her friend were leaving the college.
As Hansa attempted to enter the main road towards Mysore Road, a speeding tipper truck allegedly rammed into their two-wheeler, and both riders were thrown onto the road, and Krithika was run over by the truck, a senior police officer said.
"We have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the tipper truck driver. He has been detained and his vehicle seized," said Anoop Shetty, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, West).
