February 28, Kohima: Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes in Nagaland, Kudecho Khamo, called for a broader vision of education beyond government employment today, urging students to become leaders and entrepreneurs.

He was addressing the inauguration programme of the newly upgraded Government High School (GHS) Rukizu in Pfutsero.

Khamo acknowledged Neiphiu Rio, who heads the State Level Education Committee (SLEC), and Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, along with other concerned officials, for upgrading the school from Government Middle School to Government High School, terming it a long-felt need of the people.

He asserted that educational institutions must not only impart knowledge but also enlighten young minds to become responsible leaders and professionals who contribute towards building a better society. He appreciated the active participation of the community in realizing the upgradation of the school.

Pointing out that dependence on a lone government-aided high school at Pfutsero had posed challenges for students seeking admission, he said the upgradation of GHS Rukizu would ease admission pressure and cater not only to students from Rukizu locality but also from across Phek district.

Observing changes in Naga society and governance, Khamo said education must be viewed beyond the sole objective of securing government jobs. He encouraged students to remain grounded in values, pursue diverse professions and strive to become employers rather than employees, thereby contributing meaningfully to society.

He said that in today's competitive world, there is no space for laziness, whether in government service or in the business sector where competition is stiff.

He added that banks and financial institutions are willing to extend support to honest and promising entrepreneurs, and that government schemes are meant for those who demonstrate genuine commitment and sustainable outcomes.

Encouraging the Chakhesang community and residents of Pfutsero to embrace changing dynamics, Khamo called for preparing the younger generation to adapt and succeed in an evolving environment.

He also hailed the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for working towards inclusive development and urged the people to support the government in accelerating progress across all sectors.

During the programme, speeches were delivered by Razouseyi Vese, Director of School Education, and P. Lohe Chachei, Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Pfutsero.
