Purnea/Katihar, March 12 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched development projects worth around Rs 895 crore in the Purnea and Katihar districts during his 'Samridhi Yatra' (Development Journey).

Kumar also reviewed ongoing schemes and development projects in both districts.

"The CM launched over 92 schemes/projects, worth Rs 485 crore in Purnea. These included the inauguration of 84 schemes costing Rs 164 crore and laying the foundation stone for around 10 schemes, worth Rs 321 crore," an official release said.

Kumar inaugurated the newly constructed two-lane road of the state highway-60 to the Puran Devi Temple, and the strengthening work of the road from Line Bazar Chowk to Polytechnic Chowk via Rajni Chowk, it said.

Under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign, the CM inspected the ongoing renovation and beautification work of the pond located in the Maa Puran Devi Temple premises. Local folk artists welcomed Kumar with a 'Jhijhiya' dance performance.

He also directed officials to ensure all necessary facilities for visiting devotees at the temple.

Kumar then inspected the newly constructed district-level offices of the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Department in Purnea, the release said.

Later, the chief minister launched different schemes and projects, worth Rs 410 crore, in Katihar district.

He inaugurated 257 schemes costing Rs 229 crore and laid the foundation stone for 186 schemes/projects worth Rs 181 crore, it said.

Kumar also laid the foundation stone for the renovation and construction work of the Agricultural Production Market Yard, Katihar (Phase-2).
