
Patna, March 12 Bihar Governor-designate, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (retired), arrived in Patna on Thursday, two days before he is scheduled to take oath.
He was welcomed by Bihar ministers Dilip Jaiswal and Sunil Kumar on behalf of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The CM on Wednesday authorized Jaiswal and Kumar to receive the Governor-designate.
According to a statement issued by the Governor's Secretariat, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, and Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh also welcomed Hasnain at the airport.
Speaking to reporters here, Dilip Jaiswal said, "The new governor's glorious military experience and discipline, along with his commitment to serve the nation, will definitely infuse fresh energy into Bihar's administrative and social life."
He said it is his firm belief that under the new governor's guidance, the state will progress on the path of good governance, development, and public welfare.
Prem Kumar said he welcomed the Governor-designate in "the mother of democracy, Bihar" and expressed belief that the state will progress under his guidance.
Upon his arrival at Lok Bhavan, Hasnain was welcomed by Principal Secretary to the Governor of Bihar, Robert L Chongthu, and other officials.
He will take the oath as the state governor at 11 am on March 14.
