Bihar Transport Minister Mandates HSRP Installation.webp

Patna, April 8 Bihar Transport Minister Shrawon Kumar on Wednesday asked owners of vehicles registered before 2019 to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) within a month.

According to a statement issued by the department, Kumar said, "Nearly 52 lakh vehicles in the state are yet to be fitted with HSRP. Installing HSRP will help prevent vehicle theft and manipulation of registration plates."

Kumar warned that failure to comply with the directive would attract penalties under Sections 192 and 50 of the Motor Vehicles Act, with fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.

He urged vehicle owners to contact their respective District Transport Office (DTO) to update HSRP details at the earliest to avoid inconvenience or punitive action.

Those who have already installed HSRP but are still receiving SMS notifications should visit their DTO and get their HSRP details updated in the system, he added.
