Bhubaneswar, April 7 The opposition BJD in Odisha has suspended former Bhadrak MP Manjulata Mandal and her husband, former Dhamnagar MLA Muktikanta Mandal, for alleged anti-party activities.
"Manjulata Mandal, state council member of the BJD, and Muktikanta Mandal, member of the BJD in the Bhadrak district, are hereby suspended from the Biju Janata Dal with immediate effect for their involvement in anti-party activities," the party said in a statement.
While Manjulata Mandal was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bhadrak in 2019 on a BJD ticket, her husband Muktikanta Mandal won the Dhamnagar assembly seat in 2014.
Muktikanta expressed surprise at the party's action, claiming that some misleading reports may have prompted the move.
