New Delhi, March 21 BJP national media in-charge Anil Baluni asked the party spokespersons and television panelists in Assam on Saturday to effectively highlight the achievements of the NDA's "double-engine" government in the state and "vigorously expose" the Congress's "politics of appeasement".

Addressing a daylong media workshop organized in Guwahati for the party's Assam unit spokespersons and TV panelists, the BJP MP also expressed confidence that with the blessings of the people, the NDA will achieve a "record-breaking hat-trick of victories" in the northeastern state, with a resounding majority in the April 9 Assembly polls.

"The people of Assam have already made up their minds to completely reject the Congress party's politics of appeasement and corruption, and further strengthen the journey of a 'Viksit Bharat' currently underway under the visionary and decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Baluni was quoted as saying by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in his address.

"He appealed to the party's spokespersons and panelists in Assam to effectively highlight in the media the achievements of the 'double-engine' government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, while vigorously exposing the Congress party's politics of appeasement," the party said in a statement.

Baluni said under the guidance of Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has scripted a "new saga of development".

"Today, Assam is emerging as the gateway to development in the northeast. Under the 'double-engine' government (of the NDA), Assam will play a pivotal role in fulfilling the resolve of a 'Viksit Bharat'," he said.

As the battle lines have been drawn with the Election Commission (EC) recently announcing the Assembly poll schedule in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, the BJP has started organizing a series of media workshops for its spokespersons and TV panelists in the respective states and the Union Territory of Puducherry to further "bolster and sharpen" the party's media strategy.

At these sessions, the party's state spokespersons and panelists are instructed to "effectively" present the BJP's stance during the elections and vigorously counter the opposition based on facts, the party said.

"Media workshops have already been organized in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. The Bengal BJP's media workshop was held in Kolkata on Friday. In this series, the party's media workshop was held today in Guwahati," it added.

The 126-member Assam Assembly is scheduled to go to polls on April 9 and the counting of votes will be taken up on May 4.
