BJP Celebrates Foundation Day, Emphasizes Northeast Commitment.webp

Imphal, April 6 Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said on Monday that the BJP has a strong affinity for the northeastern region, as he greeted party workers on its 47th Foundation Day.

Singh attended the BJP's foundation day celebrations in the Noney district, while returning to Imphal after concluding a three-day tour to Jiribam district and Assam's Cachar.

"The BJP is a party that values the northeastern region," Singh said, recalling how former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee established the DONER ministry for the development of the northeastern region.

He also stated that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who declared in Parliament that Manipur's territorial integrity would always be preserved.

Singh credited Modi for the Act East Policy, which aims to open trans-Asian highways to Southeast Asian countries.

The chief minister also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for assuring all possible support for the development of Manipur.

Earlier in the day, Singh, along with BJP state president A Sharda Devi, hoisted the party flag at the Longmai Common Ground in Noney town.

They also paid floral tributes to the portraits of the two ideological founders of the BJP, Deendayal Upadhyaya and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
