Thiruvananthapuram, April 9 Senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar expressed confidence on Thursday that the party is on track to make history in the Kerala Assembly election.
Javadekar, who is the in-charge for BJP in Kerala, wrote on 'X' that he was returning to Pune after 50 days of intensive election campaigning in the state.
"It was inspiring to see citizens turn out in record numbers to celebrate the festival of democracy today," he wrote.
He said that the momentum is shifting and that the NDA and BJP are poised for a "historic performance" in the Assembly election.
"The message from the polling booths is clear: Kerala wants governance in the style of Modi and rapid progress," he said.
Polling for the 140 Assembly seats in Kerala concluded at 6 pm on Thursday.
Updated figures released at 7 pm by the Election Commission show a turnout of 77.45 per cent, higher than the 74.06 per cent turnout seen in the 2021 Assembly elections.
The BJP is expecting to make significant inroads in the state and win seats in the Assembly, where it currently has no MLAs.
The party contested 98 seats in the state, while its allies in the NDA contested the remaining seats.
