Imphal, May 15 – The Manipur unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday firmly rejected reports suggesting a possible split in the party, asserting that all its legislators remain united and committed to the party’s leadership.
The statement follows a series of social media posts and local media reports alleging that some BJP MLAs in Manipur were in talks with the opposition Congress to form a new government. The northeastern state has been under President’s Rule since February 13.
In an official communication, the BJP categorically termed the speculation as “baseless,” stating, “All legislators of the BJP stand with the party and will continue to do so in the future.”
The party also condemned what it called the deliberate circulation of misinformation aimed at creating political instability. “Spreading false narratives about BJP MLAs joining Congress is not only misleading but irresponsible during such sensitive times,” the statement added.
The BJP appealed to the public and media to act responsibly while exercising free speech, especially considering the state's fragile political environment.
