BJP Gains Momentum in Assam Amidst Dynastic Politics Fatigue.webp

Guwahati, April 4 BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said on Saturday that the ruling party in Assam has strong public support, as people are tired of decades of dynastic politics under the Congress.

Addressing election rallies in the Goalpara West and Dispur constituencies, he said that Assam is firmly on the path of development under the BJP-led NDA government, headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

"Wherever you go, whether in rural or urban areas, there is a clear and strong wave in favour of the BJP. After decades of dynastic politics and corruption by the Congress, people are firmly backing the BJP," Surya said.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sarma, development has reached every corner of Assam, with better roads and infrastructure, and expanding opportunities in education and employment, he added.

"It is very clear that the people of Assam will not give the Congress another chance," the BJP leader asserted.

Surya further said that women are the backbone of support for the BJP in Assam, and the government has assured their dignity and empowerment in the last 10 years.

"They are now truly the masters of their own destiny," he added.

The Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni has supported over 5.5 lakh girl students in pursuing their higher education so far, while the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan has given a fillip to about 30 lakh women with Rs 2.1 lakh each to start or expand small businesses, Surya pointed out.

He further said, "When I was studying in Bengaluru, many students from Assam used to come there because there were no education opportunities back home. Today, that has reduced to a large extent as opportunities are now being created within Assam."

The people of the state are among the most entrepreneurial and capable, but they had to migrate elsewhere in search of education and employment due to a lack of opportunities, he added.

"Today, things are changing. Assam is emerging as the education hub of the northeast with IIT, IIM, NLU, new medical colleges and a skill university being set up," Surya said.

More than 1.6 lakh government jobs have been provided through a transparent merit-based system, and lakhs of youth are being supported through education and skill development initiatives, he added.

"Assam has moved from agitation to aspiration, and from insurgency to industry. Under the leadership of the PM and the CM, things are taking a turn for the positive. The next five years will further strengthen Assam's developmental trajectory," the Lok Sabha MP said.

After years of neglect and inaction under the Congress, people are now firmly looking beyond empty promises and failed leadership, he added.

"There is a clear sense on the ground that people are ready for a new chapter of development, opportunity and accountable governance," Surya said.

Polling for the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held on April 9, while the results will be declared on May 4.
