Gadag (Karnataka), February 25 The BJP staged a protest in Lakshmeshwar, Gadag district, on Wednesday in support of party MLA Chandru Lamani, who is currently in judicial custody after being caught accepting a bribe of Rs five lakh from a contractor a few days ago.
Holding placards, banners, and posters, and chanting slogans against the Congress government for "detaining" the MLA, a large number of people organized a massive rally in the Lakshmeshwar town.
Condemning the arrest, the protesters stated that the Congress had conspired against Lamani.
The BJP has maintained that the Congress government is targeting the Banjara community, who have always supported the party.
