Pune, April 7 Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ravindra Chavan on Tuesday urged party workers to actively engage on digital platforms to counter "false narratives", which he claimed had significantly damaged the saffron party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a convention of party workers on the occasion of the BJP's 46th foundation day at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Pune, Chavan insisted that misleading narratives had spread "like the wind", adversely impacting the party's electoral performance two years ago when it failed to secure a majority in the Lok Sabha.

"False narratives caused substantial damage to the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Such narratives spread rapidly, and to prevent a repeat, party workers must now stay active on digital platforms and effectively reach out to the common people," he asserted.

Chavan informed the gathering that the BJP currently has around 1.5 crore members and 2.5 lakh active workers in the state, and called for further strengthening the organization by increasing its presence across over 1.06 lakh booths, with a target of achieving 51 per cent organizational growth.

Emphasising the need for grassroots engagement, he affirmed that BJP workers must remain disciplined, ideologically committed, and aligned with the party's core principles.

"The BJP's 46-year journey is one of dedication and sacrifice, with many workers striving to connect with people at the grassroots," he maintained.

The event was also addressed by Shiv Prakash, joint national general secretary of the BJP, who spoke on the party's role in nation-building.

Among those present were Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Patil, Madhuri Misal, Member of Parliament Medha Kulkarni, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, and Pune city BJP chief Dhiraj Ghate, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghate noted that the BJP's growth in Pune was driven by strong organizational work and ideological commitment, with booth-level networks playing a key role in the party's electoral success.
