
CRPF's 179 Battalion organized a blood donation camp in Sopore on Saturday to mark its 87th Raising Day, with personnel donating around 30 units of blood for patients at SDH Sopore.
Mar 07, Srinagar: The 179 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a blood donation camp at its headquarters in Sopore on Saturday to mark the force's 87th Raising Day.
Around 30 units of blood were donated by CRPF officers and personnel during the camp, officials said.
The initiative was aimed at contributing to the community and raising awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation. The donated blood will be used to support patients at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore.
Commandant V.K. Choudhary said the force chose to mark the occasion through a humanitarian initiative.
“We celebrate our Raising Day by donating blood for humanity. Recently, the CRPF organized a grand ceremony for the Raising Day celebrations in Chhattisgarh,” he said.
Choudhary also thanked the SDH Sopore blood bank team, including Imtiyaz Ahmad, Shafqat Yousuf and Javid Ahmad for their support in organizing the camp.
CRPF personnel of the 179 Battalion said they were pleased to participate in the initiative and contribute to the community through blood donation.
Among those present on the occasion were Abhay Singh Bhatia, deputy commandant of 179 Battalion CRPF, and Dr. Javid Ahmad Bhat.
