Bogey-Free Round Boosts Kochhar's Japan Ranking.webp

Chiba (Japan), April 3 Karandeep Kochhar carded another bogey-free round in the USD 2 million International Series Japan, and was one stroke behind the leader at the halfway stage.

With a score of six-under 65, Kochhar (67-65) is at 10-under par on the Par-71 course.

The only other Indian to make the cut was the legendary Jeev Milkha Singh (72-69), who scored a birdie on the 17th to make the cut at 1-under.

Kochhar, who had three birdies and no bogeys on the first day, had five birdies and no bogeys in the second round.

In the second round, Kochhar parred the first five holes and then made birdies on the sixth and eighth before adding four more on the 11th, 13th, 14th, and 16th.

He was tied for second with Japan's Shugo Imahara (67-65) and one stroke behind Korean Hongtaek Kim (64-67).

Thailand's Poom Saksansin (65-68) is tied for fourth with Korean Yubin Jang (70-63), Younghan Song (65-68), and Tatsunori Shogenji (66-67), all at 9-under after 36 holes.

The other Indians failed to make the cut, including Gaganjeet Bhullar (73-74), Shaurya Bhattacharya (75-69), Jyoti Randhawa (80-69), and SSP Chawrasia (77-79).

In the first round, Kochhar started on the tenth and parred his first nine holes. In his second nine, he had four birdies for a 4-under 67 and was in the top 10.
