Boosting Iron Ore Output: Meeting with Stakeholders.webp

Bhubaneswar, April 7 – Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi appealed to mining leaseholders on Tuesday to increase iron ore production in light of the state’s rapid industrialization and the growing demand for iron ore in the country.

CM Majhi chaired a high-level meeting with mining leaseholders and industrialists to discuss boosting iron ore production in the state. The meeting, held at Lok Seva Bhavan here, saw the Chief Minister advising all stakeholders to increase iron ore production in the state.

He assured industrialists and industry representatives that the state government would provide full support for the initiative.

The discussions focused on enhancing output in line with requirements, prioritizing production and dispatch, while adhering to the minimum mandatory limits stipulated under the Mine Development and Production Agreement (MDPA).

During the meeting, the Chief Minister noted that the number of industries in the state’s mineral-rich districts is low. He urged industrialists to set up industries in these regions to promote balanced regional development.

He further stated that the state government would provide all necessary facilities and support to enhance iron ore production.

The Chief Minister also emphasised that industrialists should give special attention to ensuring the availability of basic amenities for residents in mining areas.

The Chief Minister said that a database is being prepared to provide information about land acquired in various districts for compensatory afforestation for the establishment of industries, enabling mining leaseholders and industrialists to know how much land is available in which district.

The state government has prepared an annual auction calendar for 2026-27 to expedite the mining auction process, and mineral blocks will be auctioned accordingly.
