Bhopal, March 30 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will present his state's 'One District, One Product' (ODOP) initiative at the Sahyog Sammelan in Uttar Pradesh on March 31, focusing on how local products are being linked to markets and exports, an official said on Monday.

The award-winning ODOP initiative was developed in the state as an effective economic model, promoting local products and connecting them to markets, exports, and employment.

Through this initiative, unique products from each district are identified and linked to production, processing, value addition, branding, packaging, and market access, the official said.

In Madhya Pradesh, this initiative is not limited to the preservation of traditional products; it has been developed as a comprehensive value chain, providing sustainable economic opportunities to artisans, farmers, and micro-entrepreneurs, he said, adding that it taps into the economic potential of every part of the state.

The competitiveness of products is being enhanced through branding, packaging, GI tagging, and e-commerce, enabling local products to establish a strong presence in the global market, the official said.

The Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh Conference in Varanasi will focus on the effective implementation and future direction of ODOP, with participation from ministers, senior officials, and policymakers from both states, he said.

Through this platform, Madhya Pradesh will share its experiences and demonstrate how ODOP can be implemented as a practical, employment-oriented, and export-oriented model, the official said.

Under the ODOP initiative in Madhya Pradesh, unique products of more than 50 districts have been identified and integrated into a robust economic framework.

For example, mustard from Morena-Bhind, sandstone tiles from Gwalior, Chanderi textile from Ashoknagar, Batik from Ujjain, among other specialities of various districts, have been promoted under ODOP.
