
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), April 10 Regional carrier Fly91 launched flight services on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad route on Friday, enhancing connectivity in the region.
The inaugural function was held at Vijayawada International Airport, with Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu participating virtually. Andhra Pradesh Minister of Mines Kollu Ravindra attended the event in person.
"Fly91 Airline has commenced flight operations on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Hyderabad sector," Naidu said in an official press release from Vijayawada Airport.
Fly91's entry into Vijayawada and its growing presence across states highlight the success of regional connectivity initiatives like Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN).
The Union Minister noted that the airline's expansion reflects the Centre's push to strengthen regional aviation and said that the revamped UDAN scheme targets the development of 100 additional airports nationwide.
He further said that efforts are underway to expand Vijayawada airport's network, with plans to connect it to more domestic and international destinations in the near future.
Meanwhile, Ravindra handed over boarding passes to passengers of the maiden flight and highlighted the state's vision of expanding airport infrastructure across districts.
He remarked that improved air connectivity would support logistics, cargo movement and contribute to economic development across regions.
With Fly91's entry, the frequency of flights on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad route has increased, offering passengers greater flexibility and improved travel options, the press release added.
