
March 06, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Post-Budget Webinar on the theme “Agriculture and Rural Transformation” via video conferencing on Friday.
The webinar brought together stakeholders from key sectors including agriculture, animal husbandry and dairying, fisheries, and rural livelihoods. Discussions focused on promoting high-value agriculture by unlocking the potential of crops such as cashew, coconut, sandalwood, agarwood, almonds, walnuts, and pine nuts. It also discussed the opportunities offered by Bharat Vistaar, the AI-powered Digital Public Infrastructure for Agriculture.
Speaking during the webinar, the Prime Minister emphasized leveraging India’s diverse agro-climatic zones to boost high-value agriculture, with a particular focus on region-specific crops such as coconut, cashew, cocoa, and sandalwood.
He also highlighted the immense potential of the fisheries sector, noting that increased production could boost exports, transform the lives of rural fishing communities, and diversify rural incomes.
