Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, directed officials to work at full speed to achieve the target of creating six crore "Lakhpati Didis" under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission.

During a review meeting of DAY-NRLM in New Delhi, the Minister requested a detailed briefing on the scheme's progress and expressed satisfaction with its overall performance. He stated that achieving this ambitious target would require linking at least ten crore women to the financial inclusion initiatives of the Ministry of Rural Development. He also asked officials to prepare a concrete, time-bound action plan in coordination with state governments.

Mr. Chouhan emphasized that financial inclusion is crucial for women's empowerment and sustainable rural livelihoods. He stressed the need to strengthen bank linkages, credit access, insurance coverage, and financial literacy to make Self-Help Group members economically self-reliant. The Minister also called for the optimal use of allocated funds and directed that underperforming states be provided with necessary guidance and support to improve implementation.
