Guwahati, February 17 Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met former state Congress president Bhupen Borah on Tuesday evening, who has resigned from the opposition party.
Sarma visited Borah's residence in the Ghoramara area of Guwahati, where he was welcomed by his wife and son with an "aarti".
Borah had resigned from the Congress on Monday, but the party's top leadership did not accept his resignation, attempting to persuade him to retract it. Following this, he sought time to reconsider his decision.
Sarma had previously stated that the doors of the BJP were open for Borah, promising to help him win from a "safe seat" in the upcoming assembly elections.
