Kamrup district administration intensifies election preparedness
Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections on April 9, the Kamrup district administration in Assam has implemented extensive measures to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.
Out of the six Assembly constituencies in Kamrup district, a total of 15 polling stations in Palashbari and Boko-Chaygaon are located along the Assam-Meghalaya border. These polling stations have been identified as sensitive areas.
To ensure that voters can cast their votes without fear, Kamrup Deputy Commissioner, Deba Kumar Mishra, held a meeting on Wednesday with his counterpart from Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills, Hema Nayak. During the discussion, Mishra sought cooperation from the Meghalaya administration to maintain peace and facilitate smooth polling in the border areas.
The meeting was also attended by local representatives, senior police officials from both districts, including Kamrup Superintendent of Police Subhasish Baruah, and West Khasi Hills police officials. Following the meeting, the Kamrup DC visited several border polling stations to review preparedness.
