Navi Mumbai, February 27 – Despite the efforts of Indian batsmen Rahul Tripathi and Shreyas Iyer, BPCL narrowly defeated Income Tax by two wickets in the DY Patil T20 Cup at DY Patil Stadium in Nerul on Friday.
After being put in to bat first, BPCL scored 151/8 in their 20 overs. Tripathi was the top scorer with 48 off 37 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. He also put on a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket with left-arm spin bowler Anukul Roy. Shreyas Iyer (32) was another significant contributor for BPCL.
For Income Tax, Saurabh Dubey (4-26) and Pankaj Jaiswal (2-28) were the most successful bowlers. In response, Income Tax won thanks to the contributions of wicketkeeper-batsmen Anuj Rawat and Harvik Desai, who put on a 55-run partnership for the second wicket.
Shahbaz Ahmed, a left-arm spin bowler for India, scored 24 runs, helping Income Tax reach the target with two wickets to spare. Anukul Roy took 2-19 for BPCL, while Akhil Herwadkar scored 2-31.
At the DY Patil University ground, Nirlon defeated the Indian Navy by a massive 105 runs thanks to Kunal Singh Rathore's unbeaten 93. The tournament will now be on a break over the weekend, with the final round of group matches scheduled for Monday.
