
New Delhi, March 18 Asgard Alcobev, formerly known as Banganga Paper Industries, has entered into a strategic agreement with Mohan Meakins (Solan) to brew and sell the iconic Golden Eagle Beers in the northeastern region.
Its Shillong-based subsidiary, CMJ Breweries, has signed an agreement with Brews & Bliss LLP, which holds exclusive rights to manufacture, market, and sell Golden Eagle Beer, the company said in a statement.
"This exclusive contract to manufacture and distribute the Golden Eagle portfolio for the entire NE zone/Bhutan will bring significant economic benefits not only for both partners but also for consumers and shareholders," it added.
Under the agreement, CMJ Breweries will produce Golden Eagle beer at its brewery in Byrnihat, Meghalaya.
"The agreement will come into effect from April 1, 2026, and will remain in force until March 31, 2029," it said.
"It also includes a 12-month lock-in period linked to a minimum guaranteed quantity commitment to CMJ, providing a stable foundation for production planning and market execution during the initial phase," it added.
Brews & Bliss will oversee key commercial and operational responsibilities, including the funding of working capital and excise-related label and registration costs, and market coordination across the covered territories, it added.
Mohan Meakin is one of India's oldest beverage companies, with its brewing heritage dating back to 1855 at the historic Solan brewery. It is known for many iconic brands, including Golden Eagle Beer and Old Monk Rum.
Asgard Alcobev, in February this year, completed the acquisition of CMJ Breweries, a leading contract brewing facility in Northeast India.
CMJ Breweries is a franchise partner of leading brewing brands such as Kingfisher (United Breweries), Calsberg and Tuborg (Calsberg India), Asia 72 beer (Mohan Meakins) and others.
