
Srinagar, March 29 The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir (ACB) has arrested a police officer in the Anantnag district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe, officials said on Sunday.
Special Police Officer Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, stationed at the Larnoo police station, was allegedly demanding Rs 18,000 to release the documents of a transport vehicle.
According to an ACB spokesperson, the agency received a complaint from the owner of a goods carrier alleging that Bhat was demanding money to return the vehicle's documents seized during a check on Friday.
"A trap was laid, and Bhat was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe. He was arrested on the spot, and the bribe amount was recovered from his possession," the spokesperson said.
