Lucknow, March 21 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati extended greetings to Muslims on Eid and wished them the freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution.

In a post on X, the BSP chief said, "Following a month of fasting and prayers, including Tarawih, during the auspicious and holy month of Ramadan, the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr brings joy today. I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh and the entire nation, and especially to all Indian Muslim families residing across the country and around the world."

She added, "Along with all other Indians, I also wish for a good life for everyone, a life guaranteed to all citizens by the Indian Constitution framed by the revered Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar."

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister called on everyone to contribute fully to upholding the traditions of "mutual harmony, brotherhood, cordiality, restraint, and tolerance."

She said, "This will ensure that the agenda of equitable development in the country moves forward, and that all citizens can take pride in being equal partners in the nation's happiness and prosperity."

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country on Saturday.
