Budaun Police: Inspector and SI Suspended Over Assault.webp

Budaun (UP), March 28 An inspector and a sub-inspector posted at the Bisauli police station in Budaun district have been suspended after a viral video showed them allegedly abusing and pushing a visually-impaired complainant out of the police station, officials said on Saturday.

SSP Ankita Sharma, who ordered the suspensions, said that according to a written complaint submitted by the aggrieved party, a motorcycle collided with an e-rickshaw on March 3, in which the bike rider, Suresh Pal, and his visually-impaired uncle, Morpal, sustained injuries.

Morpal lodged a formal complaint about the accident at the Bisauli police station. Later, the matter was reported on the chief minister's portal, alleging inaction by the police.

According to the complaint, Morpal went to the police station on Saturday demanding action. However, an altercation ensued during which Inspector Rajendra Singh Pundir reportedly lost his cool, hurled abuses at the complainant, and physically shoved him out of his chamber.

A video clip capturing the purported incident went viral on social media.

Following an inquiry, Inspector Pundir and Sub-inspector Bhupendra Yadav have been suspended, and the investigation into the case has been assigned to Circle Officer Sunil Kumar.
