
Today, the Lok Sabha will discuss and vote on the grants requested by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The House will also discuss and vote on the grants requested by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Power.
In response to a discussion on the grants requested by the Ministry of Railways in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the Modi government has made significant changes in the railways over the past decade and has worked on all aspects of the sector. He added that the financial health of the railways has improved significantly under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi over the past 10 years.
Meanwhile, the Parliament passed the Appropriation Bill 2026 after the Rajya Sabha returned it to the Lower House following yesterday's discussion. The Lok Sabha had already approved the bill. It seeks to authorize the payment and appropriation of certain further sums from and out of the Consolidated Fund of India for the services of the financial year 2025-26.
In response to the discussion in the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted that the Centre is providing 57,381.84 crore rupees for the Economic Stabilization Fund. She stated that the fertilizer subsidy is 19,230 crores to meet additional requirements that may arise for the upcoming Rabi crop season. She also mentioned that a sum of 5000 crores is being provided to Jammu and Kashmir as central assistance to meet their development requirements.
