Gujarat Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai presented a ₹4.08 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year 2026, with an estimated surplus of ₹974 crore. This budget, designed under the vision of 'Viksit Gujarat @ 2047', includes key highlights such as a significant increase in student welfare through expanded scholarship limits, the creation of a ₹50,000 crore development fund, and a visionary plan to prepare Ahmedabad for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and promote tourism.
The Minister stated that the total budget allocation increased by 10.2% compared to the previous fiscal year. The Finance Minister has maintained the existing tax rates and continued the 5% tax rebate for electric vehicles.
