Shimla, March 21 Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Vinay Kumar on Saturday described the state budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year as a new step on a new path, and said that despite a financial crisis, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to inclusive development.
Kumar said the budget emphasizes rural development with growth in agriculture and horticulture, in addition to expanding basic amenities in education, healthcare, and employment generation.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and former state party chief Kuldeep Rathore said that it is a balanced budget despite the fiscal challenges in the wake of the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG).
Welcoming the cut (deferment) in the salaries of politicians and bureaucrats, he said that the government is leading by example and not burdening the common people.
