March 11, New Delhi — At least six people have died after a bus caught fire in the Swiss town of Krezers, authorities said.
The incident occurred a short distance from the capital on Tuesday. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire. Initial reports suggested that the fire may have been deliberately started by a passenger.
Cantonal public prosecutor Raphael Bourquin said Wednesday that a witness reported seeing a man of Swiss origin board the bus with bags, douse himself in a flammable substance, and set himself on fire.
Bourquin added that there is no evidence suggesting a terrorist act. It appears that the man suspected of starting the fire is among the deceased. Identification of all victims could take several days.
