Assam CM lays foundation stone for cement company in Cachar
In Assam's Cachar district, a new Star cement factory was inaugurated today in Hilara. The factory was formally opened by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Several dignitaries were present at the inauguration, including Star Cement Chairman Sajjan Bhajanka, Deputy Managing Director Tushar Bhajanka, CEO Pradeep Purohit, Assam Minister Kaushik Roy, Minister Bimal Bora, and Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha.
Star Cement has invested more than ₹600 crore in setting up the factory. The unit will produce approximately 2 million tonnes of cement annually. More than 1,000 people will receive direct and indirect employment from the project.
