Jaipur, March 23 The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee announced a 30-day statewide organizational drive, starting April 1, under which ward and gram panchayat-level units will be strengthened and new office-bearers appointed.
Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra said that presidents will be appointed in all newly formed gram panchayats and wards of urban local bodies, along with the formation of 21-member committees at the grassroots level.
"A 30-day 'Strengthen Organization, Save Democracy' campaign will be carried out across villages, wards, blocks and district headquarters to expand the party organization and reach out to people," he said.
"The state government is delaying elections for urban local bodies and panchayati raj, and is using issues related to the OBC commission and delimitation as grounds to defer the polls," he alleged.
Dotasra said that he and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully will tour districts as part of the campaign, starting early April.
The Congress leader also highlighted the issue related to LPG shortage and announced a protest at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur on March 27.
