April 07, New Delhi: Key political figures are making a final push in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, as Tuesday is the last day of campaigning for the state assembly elections in the two states and a Union Territory.
Single-phase polling will take place for 126 seats in Assam, 140 in Kerala, and 30 seats in Puducherry on Thursday, April 9. Starting from Tuesday evening, a 48-hour "quiet period" will come into effect under the Representation of the People Act, prohibiting rallies, public meetings, and election-related content on television, radio, and other platforms.
Political advertisements in newspapers during this period will require prior approval, and non-local leaders must leave their constituencies after the campaigning ends.
