
New Delhi, February 24 The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) recently held a meeting to review the enforcement and inspection activities carried out across the National Capital Region (NCR) between February 4 and February 18, officials said on Tuesday.
They said that special teams conducted inspections across key sectors contributing to air pollution, including industrial units, construction and demolition activities, road dust, diesel generator sets, and incidents related to municipal solid waste and biomass burning.
"During the reporting period, 318 inspections were conducted, including four in the construction and demolition sector, 306 in the industrial sector, and eight related to violations of diesel generator sets, across the NCR," an official said.
As a result of these inspections, 131 violations were reported, including four from the construction and demolition sector, 123 from the industrial sector, and four related to diesel generator sets.
The review meeting on February 20 also focused on inspecting measures to mitigate road dust, including mechanized road sweeping, water sprinkling, and maintaining paved shoulders.
"The inspection findings were thoroughly reviewed, and concerned agencies were advised to ensure on-site vigilance and strict adherence to dust abatement measures, especially in high-traffic corridors and urban hotspots," the official said.
