
Gonda (UP), March 25 At least 17 people were injured after a tempo collided with a car here on Wednesday morning, police said.
The accident occurred near Dhanauli on the Gonda-Utraula road when a car, allegedly travelling at high speed from the opposite direction, hit the tempo carrying labourers, they said.
Gonda Station House Officer Bindeshwari Mani Tripathi said, "Many labourers had arrived in Gonda from Dehradun by train on Wednesday morning. They were travelling to Utraula via Dhanepur in a rented tempo," he said.
Following the collision, a total of 17 passengers in both vehicles were injured. Police teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby medical college for treatment.
"All the injured are currently receiving treatment," Tripathi said.
A case has been registered against the car driver, who was reportedly on his way to Lucknow for medical reasons, he said, adding that further investigation is underway.
