
Kannur (Kerala), April 6 A court on Monday acquitted seven members of the National Democratic Front in a case related to the alleged murder of a former CPI(M) worker in 2008.
The Thalassery Additional Sessions Court Judge, Philip Thomas, acquitted the accused in the case concerning the death of former CPI(M) activist U K Salim at Hussanmotta on July 23, 2008.
The acquitted individuals are C K Latheef, K C Latheef, P P Abdulla, Zakeer Hussain, P Nazer, T P Muhammad Hisan, and Sabil P C.
According to the prosecution, Salim was attacked and killed following a clash over the removal of a CPI(M) poster.
However, last year, Salim's father raised doubts, alleging that his son may have been killed by CPI(M) activists, a claim he also presented to the court, a police official said.
During the trial, the court examined 27 witnesses, 44 documents, and 10 pieces of evidence.
