Thane, March 17 Police have registered a case against a 28-year-old man for allegedly misbehaving with a minor girl in Thane district, Maharashtra, officials said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on March 14 at a chawl (row tenement) in the Bhiwandi area.
A resident of the chawl alleged that her 13-year-old daughter was standing outside their house when the accused misbehaved with her, an official from the Shantinagar police station said.
Based on the woman's complaint, a case was registered on Sunday against the man under section 79 (using words, gestures, or actions intended to insult a woman's modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police added.
